Question

Zeus The Puppy
Hi we got Zeus at 6 1/2 weeks old. He was 13 lbs. when we bought him. He is now 9 weeks old and 22 lbs. We think he is big in size for his breed. We would like to know if he is over weight or should we be concerned?. We feed him 3 times a day. 3/4 cup per feeding. He loves to eat, he eats it up right away. We don't feed him treats or anything else. He is on Blue Buffalo Puppy Food. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. The picture of him was at 7 weeks old.

Answer
He looks like he will be a big boy! Judging from his ears. But there is no way to tell.
I would also get him into a puppy class, puppies should remain with their mom till they are 8 weeks old at the minimum. They can develop problems from the lack of socialization. I would not worry about weight at this age, he will be growing, and when they grow they eat up calories like crazy, which means they store fat on their body before they have a growth spurt.
I wouldn't start worrying about weight till he is 8 or 9 months.
