Huskies drinking urine

Dear Faye,
I have two Siberian Huskies (13 and 11 years old), who have been drinking their urine lately.  I wonder if you have heard of this or might have any ideas as to why this is occurring.  They always have a ready and ample supply of fresh water available.  Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Dear Sheila,
Well dogs usually drink and eat funny things when they have some kind of deficiency in their diet.So i think you should take a good look at what it is that they are being fed.Giving vitamins and mineral suppliments may help,have you noticed that they are eating any soil? This too indicates the same thing.
Also you did not mention the sex of your dogs or if they have been desexed.Some times male dogs drink the females urine to see if she is in season.Perhaps this is the cause.
