Question
What should a 14 year old female husky weigh?  How much should they eat per day?  How do you know if they are being starved and can anything other than not feeding one cause it to lose weight?

Answer
It depends, how tall is she how wide is she built? If you are feeding a good food usually 2 cups a day is good. Cheaper dog foods need more to get almost the same nutrition (most cheaper dog foods have the nutrition... but it is in ingredients such as corn, beet pulp or soy which is just a cheep filler and the dogs cannot digest it it just upsets the tummy and they cannot get the nutrition on the labile), like 6 cups or so, you go through the food fast so it really isn't cheep if you look at it. I would suggest for her (if in the US or Canada) Canidae Platinum it ha glucosamine in it to help keep her joints in working order.
Yes dogs can lose weight and still eat, things like worms, diabetes (simple urine test, or blood test), or since this is a older dog the GI tract is shutting down (lets hope this isn't the case) also since this is a older dog you have to look at the possibility of cancer.
The best way to tell the dogs weight is by running you hands down the dogs side, you should feel the ribs (fairly easily) but not see them. If the spine is sticking out that is wayyyyy to skinny the spine should have a fat reserve over it. But I know some lines of Siberians never get fat reserves and you can always feel a spine you just have to watch her and be sure she is active and happy then.
