bringing a husky in to the home that already has a one year old beagle mix

Question
My son asked me to take his female husky who is three and a half. She is a beautiful dog and we have watched her many times when he went on holidays. He also has a large male white german shepard who domainated the husky for two years. The husky would dig holes and run.We have agreed on a trial basis as we have a beagle mix that was a rescue dog.The beagle tries to make friends and play, the husky just seems to want to be left alone. Do you think if I give it some time it will work out.We have had her for one week.      Thank you for your time

Answer
Definitely don't rush anything and just supervise interactions and make sure to minimize opportunities for fights (food, toys, treats and such should be given away from each other).  They might not become best friends, but generally, Sibes are pretty cordial or tolerant of other dogs, especially if they've been raised with them.  A new environment though will take some time to get used to things, so just take it slow.  Another thing that really can help is working both dogs on obedience training and getting them out to exercise together.  Often times, the more that they see you as the clear leader, they are more likely to fall in line with each other and generally get along.  Good luck and let me know how it goes!
