adopting a husky

Question
I would like to take in a 4 year old husky named Meiko. He is absolutely beautiful, house trained, very loving. My parents adopted him because they couldn't leave him to be put to sleep, but they do not have enough room for him. My question is... I have 2 small kids, is a husky a good idea? My parents have had him around kids all week since they got him, and say that he loves them all, and is very well mannered. I have never owned a husky, and would just like to know if they have a pretty good temper. I would love to bring Meiko into our family! Any advice or opinions would be great! Thank you!

Answer
Each dog is different, but Siberians are well known for being friendly and playful dogs that can do well with the energy level of kids.  The only caution, Siberians are very playful and energetic, and can sometimes being overly playful.  If interactions are supervised, Sibes usually do great with children.  It may take some time to teach kids how to behave with the dog and get the dog to learn the rules of playing with small humans, but overall, it works great.  Most problems stem from the facial fixation that Siberians have which causes them to want to jump up.  Other than that, light nips or scratches from playful wrestling are also common.

The key - supervision; most Siberians are simply very playful and friendly.
