Are Rooftops dangerous?

Question
Hello! We are about to buy a little siberian husky puppy. We live in an apt in a big city (seoul). However, our apt. building has a rooftop. The wall around the rooftop is about four feet high. IS there danger that the puppy will jump off? Can they learn that heights are dangerous? its really a perfect place for him to be while we are at work.
PLease let me know
Thanks,
Laura

Answer
Dear Laura,
Having 4 of these guys of my own I cannot believe you are even contemplating buying this breed of dog if you have no access to a yard of any kind. These dogs are not apartment dwellers and I would advise you very strongly not to get a siberian. This would be very frustrating for you, and a very sad existance for your dog.
You obviously have no clue to what a Siberian needs to be happy. This is a bit more about the breed. Once you read this I hope you can see they are totally unsuitable to live the way you do.
The basics though are,
These guys need huge amounts of excercise, so if you cant walk at least a
couple of miles a day do not get this breed.
They are very hard to train and wont do obedience like a german shepherd
will.
They are very stubborn and persistant.
They love to hunt all small animals even if it happens to be your cat!
They WILL NOT come when called. Do not let these guys go anywhere off
lead.
They are notoriouous escape artists, if they want out nothing keeps them
in! So a secure yard is a must.
They will pull and pull on a leash until your arm is sore.
They love to dig like you wouldnt believe. Fine if you want a lunar
landscape in the back yard though.
They will cover your entire home in dog fur especially in spring time.
I guess this is the basic attributes of the breed.
As to your roof question I am sure that at some point your dog will try to venture off it, and on a warm day your dog would hate it there. Dont do this.
I hope this helps you understand what you are getting into, it would be so wrong to keep any big dog this way let alone a husky. Faye and Husky Crew.
