Cutting Huskies Nails

Question
Hello,

Love the website it is very informative. My husky(Lupin) will not let us cut his nails. The 1st time we cut them he had no problem with it but the 2nd time he started whining and trying to run away. Ive tried taking him on long walks to see if he would allow me to cut his nails while he was tired and it still didnt work lol. Any suggestions would help greatly.

Thanks

Answer
Ah, that can be a tough one.  One thing I've noticed is that sometimes it's best to do it after a long run, and just do one nail.  Usually, you can get away with one and a treat, and then the ordeal is over until the next long walk/run when you get to do one more.  Honestly, I don't usually cut my dog's nails because they can run on concrete quite a bit which is a great semi-natural nail file.  After you work with the dog for a while just cutting one nail, you may be able to gradually increase to one or more nails per cutting.
