Question
QUESTION: ok i was surprised last night in bed after i took my sibe for a walk, i found a tick on me, so instantly i jumped looked for more then checked my sibe as soon as i started looking i saw about 10 small ticks in view not to mention the ones i didnt see, i got what i could off, i wasnt expecting any ticks to still be out since i live in new england and it is the end of october but my question is this, i have been using frontline on my sibe for the last 7 months every 30 i put it on without missing a application, how does that stuff work, i was under the impression that it kills fleas and ticks, if so why did isee them on him is he in any danger or is it just because the ticks were on his fur and not in his skin please please i need to know asap before something bad happens like lyme disease thank you

ANSWER: Frontline absorbs into the skin and give the blood a toxicity level high enough to kill the tick/flea that feasts on the dog. Because this is how it works it doesn't prevent lymes disease. Lymes is very easy to treat though, I have had 3 dogs that acquired this illness it is a simple pill given every day for an extended period of time. You will usually notice lameness in the front legs. The tick bite will be red and swollen. You will have fever and sometimes moodswings will accompany the symptoms. Lymes disease takes 4 to 6 months to effect your dog, it is a slow moving disease. Ticks are horrible this year no matter where you live it seems...

QUESTION: so there is no stopping lyme disease, i thought frontline goes onto the hair of the animal, that is what they advertise

Answer
There is a shot for lymes it is 78% effective, better then nothing. But treating the disease isn't a big deal if you catch it. You are supposed to put frontline under the hair between the shoulder  blades. It absorbs into the skin from there. If you do not put it on the skin it is pretty much useless. It is safe for the dog. -Michelle B ^^
