Question
Hi Michelle,

We recently rescued a 2 year old (approx) female husky.  She came to us a little under weight but is now weighing 45lbs. Although her weight is increasing she still looks very lanky and you can feel her spine.  Wondering if you have any suggestions on how to fill her out without her becoming over weight.  As well the "on site" vet at the adoption clinic shaved her lower shin (must have put her under) as well as her belly area to check for scar tissue suggesting she'd been spayed.  We have had Sierra (dog's name) in our home for 2 months now and her fur has not grown back in these areas.  How long will that take and what steps should I be taken to encourage rapid hair growth?

Thank you for you time in assisting us.

Karen and Sierra

Answer
The hair will take months to grow back. Especially on the belly it will grow back after then shed next. I recommend a supplement to encourage hair growth.

I know it is for horses but it is used for dogs to if you read the smaller print.

She is 2 they usually are thin at this age. They do not fill out till they are 3 years old. I suggest looking at a food with a high % of crude fat. All dog food has nutrition facts on them now. This is what I feed to my dogs I want to fatten up.
