Average Height and Weight

Question
QUESTION: I have a purebread Siberian Husky. He is alittle over 7months and was just wondering what the average weight and height is for this age? I'm just wondering because when we got him at 8months he weighed 12.5 pounds and was the largest out of 2 litters. We picked him because we wanted him to be big and muscleaur. (I didn't want one of the the ones that look like they need to eat more) When he was a puppy he would eat his food like there was no tomorrow, now we feed him twice a day (4cups total) and he usually only eats about 2cups a day out of it. Also, just wondering when he will be full grown -- is it 1 year or 2 years to be full grown? Just want to make sure he is on the right path.
Thanks

ANSWER: I assume you meant he weighed 12.5 lbs at 8 weeks, not 8 months.  Male Sibes are to be 21-23.5 inches at the shoulder and 45-60 lbs, lean, muscular build (under all the fur).  While each dog varies, most dogs are at their adult height at around 10-12 months, but will pick up weight (fill out with muscle) until they are about 18 months.  Sibes seem to be full-grown at about that time.  A few people say it's 24 months, but I've seen minimal changes in that age range overall.

As for feeding amounts - completely depends on type of kibble.  My two get 1 cup of food per day and that's it, but they are fed a high fat/high protein kibble, so it works.  If you want to provide some more specifics stats, I'll be glad to help, but you should expect the dog to be close to his heigh (which is measured at the shoulder), and I would guess about 10-15 lbs off his adult weight.

QUESTION: Thanks for the info. He weighs right now about 45 pounds and he height is about 15inches at the shoulders. He eats Eukanuba puppy food for a large breed dog. (Medium breed dog in this food is hard to find where I live) The only thing is that is very active I take him for a 30 min run everyother day and walk for an 1 hour on the other days. I know they don't eat that much to begin, but I want him to look more muscular than he does. I think he is undereating for the amount of exercise that he gets. Any suggestions?

Answer
7 month old dog at 15 inches and 45 lbs sounds fine - maybe on the large side for a Siberian already.  I think the 4 cups of the Eukanuba might be actually too much (which would explain why he doesn't eat all of it).  I would think he's fine and remeber - an 8 month old dog is technically in his teenage years, and therefore often a little awkward in his growth.  Don't worry about feeding extra or trying to bulk him up - he sounds fine and might look a little disproportinate right now, but that's to be expected.  Overall, sounds like you are fine.
