No 2nd Coat

Question
My husky is 11 months old and has yet to get his second coat. I have heard that some huskies, when bred in warmer conditions, never grow it in. When I go back up north for the winter he will stay in a large outside kennel with a dog house for a few hours a day. Will it be too cold for him since he doesn't have the second coat?

Answer
It's tough to say, as every situation is different.  Overall, I would think that if there is any way you can ease him into the temperature change, his body should be able to react and warm up his coat some.  If it's a sudden move from warmer climates to something much colder, you may need to be a  little more careful than you normally would with an arctic bred dog.
