Blowing the winter coat

Question
I have an 10 1/2 month old male husky.  I know he's blowing his winter coat (as hair is EVERYWHERE), but it seems to last forever

When I brush him (I use a rake for the undercoat and wire brush for the top coat)I get a lot of hair loose and out, but it now looks like he's been shaved poorly and has patches of hair longer than others.

Any suggestions on how to brush him so that his coat is even and he stops shedding?

Thanks!

Answer
Two things:

1) Warm bath - preferably at a pet store if you can find one that will rent the pet shower space.  Clean-up there is probably worth the $10 charge.  You want the bath to warm, borderline hot, to help encourage that hair loss.  Dry thoroughly and brush the dog out.  This usually expedites the coat blow.

2) Not to recommend and individual product, but the Furminator has worked wonders for me and is worth looking into.

Also, keep in mind that indoor dogs, or indoor/outdoor dogs, have a longer coat blow period than do their outdoor counterparts.  The inconsistent ambient temperature causes the issue, and it can always be caused based on your climate.

Hope that helps some!
