huskie breeding problems

20 9:16:25

Question
I want to breed my 2yr miniature husky, how many pups do they usually have?

Answer
Well, I have not bred my Siberians for four reasons:

1) I'll leave it to professional kennels who show and work for the betterment of the breed.

2) I haven't done enough genealogical research in the lineages to know what traits I would be striving to produce

3) Haven't done the health certifications (OSF, CFA, etc)

4) Risks to the bitch

If you are comfortable with addressing each of those issues, then good luck with the breeding.  I have not dealt with miniature huskies before, but general Siberian litters range from about 4-8 pups.  Obviously, the fewer pups, the less health issues all involved usually have, but not always.  Often if you exceed 8 pups, there will be some stillbirths or pups that don't make it very far after birth.  If you have less than 4, sometimes you have some problems with the mother, but that's much rarer.

Hope that helps, and if there are any more specific questions, feel free to contact me.
