My Groomer Shaved My Husky!

20 9:10:52

Question
My dog Nikolai is a 100% pure AKC certified Siberian Husky, 3 days shy of being 11 months old. Today I took him to the groomers, and as usual asked for the fur on his paws & around his bottom to be trimmed. When I picked him up...they SHAVED him!

I've been reading how this is is a horrible thing to do. I wanted to know if I can take him out in the sun like this at all, firstly.

Then can you tell me how fast I can expect his beautiful fur to grow back? And lastly, at how long should his fur be for me to begin keeping him out in my sunny yard again?

Thank you!

Answer
Firstly I would get a refund or something or at least never go back to that groomer.
About the coat growing back, it depends on your dog. I would let your dog back out as soon as their is enough fur you don't see the skin. Apply sun block to the skin in the mean time to prevent burns and protect the skin from UV rays.
The quikest the coat can come back (not all the way but a good amount) is 3 months it will probably be 9 months to a year before the coat is back in its full glory.

I am really sorry it happened. I have heard that this happens quite often at Pet smart and Petco. I have heard of people being in a pinch before they went to a dog show and taking them to a Petco and getting a shaved dog back..... unfourtunatly it happens. I always let them know without any doubt that shaving is a no no big time.

If you have any more questions please ask!
