My new husky puppy is EXTREMELY small & underweight!!

Question
Hello...I have owned several huskies in the past and just bought a new puppy on 6/15.  I drove three hours to pick him up and was SHOCKED when she opened to the door to where the puppies were....they were SOOO small!  The mother had 11 puppies which I know is almost twice the normal amount but I still don't think he should be as small as he is!  She said they were born on 4/1/07 which makes him 11 weeks old today. I just weighed him and he is only 5.2 pounds.  I triple checked with the breeder about his birth date and she said it was definitely 4/1.  She also said that the mom was small when she was little and then got much bigger as she got older....He also feels very underweight to me.  He's got a big belly which I'm assuming is filled with worms (I'm on my way after this to get his dewormer and 2nd set of shots).  I can feel his backbone and his hip and shoulder bones, it feels like he has no muscle mass!  Can you tell me the normal weight for a puppy this age?  I've looked everywhere on-line and cannot find what he should be weighing but I know my other pups I had at this age were at least three times his size.  Also, are there any supplements I should be giving him?  He's only eating puppy chow right now.  Thanks for any help you can give me!!

Answer
Puppy size varies significantly among different litters, so I'd hate to say where he should be, but 5 or 6 lbs is small.  What I've seen would put an 11 week old dog at 8-14 lbs.  Definitely get the worming and shots and I would suggest upgrading the dog to a better kibble with higher fat/protein contents and something that is meat based.
