QuestionI have a three year old female husky, with long hair and a thick coat. We live in Colorado and she loves being outside in the winter. It is now mid-June and she wont let go of her undercoat and has a horrible smell. We bathe her, which we shouldn't have to do, and the smell is back within 2-3 days. Is something wrong?
AnswerNot knowing the odor or it's origination, I would suggest a vet visit. My initial guess however would be that since she is female (although it happens in males, it's more common with females), it might be impacted anal glands. Not a big deal, but a vet visit should clear it up.
As for the not shedding - I assume she has blown coat in the past? Is there a change in texture of the undercoat? Was she ever shaven?
