Navy Blue Eyes

Question
There is a litter of Siberian Husky Puppies born on July 16th, I am supposed to choose my puppy next week. I REALLY want a puppy with blue eyes, and the puppy that caught my eye still has really dark eyes, but they are a dark blue. She is a brown/white female. I was wandering what the chances are they will turn out to stay blue? Or if they will turn brown?

Answer
Physical characteristics of the dogs will change over time and really, there are so many more things to attract you to the dog than the eye color.  However, blue is actually a lack of pigmentation, and therefore, the pup may develop the pigment in time, especially if the eyes are already dark.  In any case though, most blue eyes in Siberians actually turn a light blueish white later in life.  Brown will usually stay brown, blue may or may not change (probably 50/50 chance) but will almost certainly change to a lighter blue over time.
