Adopting a 2nd older male husky

Question
We currently have a 2 year old male husky who has been the most fantastic dog.  A family member is being forced to give up her 10 year old male due to a move and we offered to take him in so that he doesn't go to a shelter.  The 10 yr old is also about 20 pounds heavier than our dog.  The dogs have met and got along very very well, a little play fighting and a lot of running together.  We understand that the dogs will work out their own order as long as we are the top of the pack, but are there any special concerns we should have about bringing an older, bigger male into our house? Thanks!

Answer
Just take things slow, carefully and with supervision.  Ig the two dogs have gotten along in the past, that is a good sign.  I assume both of them are neutered?  If that's the case, life is generally much easier.  I recommend making sure both are continually obedience trained, fed separately and not given treats together - at least not until you are confident in their interactions.  This just encourages fighting if there is any aggression between them and that's what you want to do.  Also, sleeping arrangements should be isolated especially if the current dog has "his spot".  Good luck and let me know what you see in their interactions.
