Question
QUESTION: We just received a 4 year old male husky and he is lovely. we have been offered to use him to father pups. We said that it is fine as long as we may keep one pup. My question is what should we keep? A male or a female husky and how will the age difference affect the 2 dogs?

ANSWER: This depends entirely on the temperment of the older dog.  Some animals respond very well to young puppies, while others feel threatened.  This can be abated by using opposite sex pairings (female pup in your case) as the dog will feel less threatened in these cases, but that is not always the situation.  If you have a well mannered, well socialized Siberian male, my guess however is that a Sibe female will be met as a welcome addition.

QUESTION: thnak you I appreciate. I just forgot to say that i have 2 female cats and the male husky is beginning to get use to the cats. IF we introduce a new dog will they not pair off and start hunting the cats?

Answer
It is completely possible.  Be very careful with Siberian/feline interactions though as the dogs have a high prey drive and also play very rough.  Unfortunately, cats can easily be killed by a 50 lb energetic dog, even in play.  Each introduction of a Siberian to a cat is technically a risk, but if the dog is properly and extensively socialized at a young age, it's usually met with more success.

Because of the differing natures of feline and canine body language, as well as social structures, male/female relations between the two species rarely make much difference (whereas they do make a difference in dogs).
