3 month old male siberian husky

Question
Please help - we purchased Seb at 7 weeks' old and he was fed on Iams dried puppy food & Butchers adult canned food by the breeder.  We changed his food to Butchers puppy food but struggled to buy this as it wasn't stocked at our local supermarkets.  We then had to change him to Pedigree Chum puppy food but this caused him to have diarrhea.  Due to the diarrhea I was advised to change him to just dried food and the RSPCA advised I move him onto James Wellbeloved which is hypoallergenic and very good for dogs.  He had been eating this food for about 5 days and continued with diarrhea when I rang the James Wellbeloved helpline who advised I cut his food down but add rice to it.  This still didn't solve the problem and when I took him to the vets the vet gave me Pro colin.  This still hasn't worked and he has had constant diarrhea for 5 weeks now and for the last 3 weeks we have been giving him a spoonful of bio live yoghurt with his food, only now and then has a stool which is slightly formed.  There doesn't seem to be any blood in his stools.  He is up to date with his injections and has also been wormed.

The other problem I have which could be related is that he has eaten a few trainer socks.  He has vomited one of them up and my husband seems to think that one came out the other end but he couldn't be sure.  Just five minutes ago I rescued a full adult sock which was just inches from going all the way down (how he possibly swallows it I don't know as he is still quite small but I'm sure he will also have a sore throat as I had to pull it out).

Please advise if I should change his food and if so what to.  We are in the UK.

Thank you

Answer
I am not familiar with dog food brands in the UK. I looked up the one James Wellbeloved and it looks pretty good. Try fixing the Diarrhea this was. 24 hours no food, start feeding him Boiled ground beef with rice (no seasoning this will upset the GI tract) Give him plain yogurt for dessert with his new meal. You are going to want to do this for 3 or 4 days. Slowly add his kibble back into his diet. (start one day with 1/4 cup of food and leave it that way for 3 days then add 1/2 cup ect)
This bland diet is designed to "reset" the G.I. tract. The yogurt (which you are doing Bravo!!!) puts the healthy bacteria back into his G.I. tract.
Do not give him any treats of any kind until he is back on his food for quite a while. Huskies are known for having sensitive stomachs a weird spice introduced into his diet quickly can put you back at step one. So careful what you feed him and how much (over eating can cause diarrhea.)
I know you said he is de-wormed but worms can build up a tolerance to de-wormers used, bring in a stool sample to the vet to get checked just in case. It is fairly inexpensive.
Try to keep the socks away, they do not cause diarihea but they can get suck and can die. Surgery is exspensive.
