husky and the heat

Question
I have an 11 year old husky, we just moved to Florida. She pants all the time, even with the air on. Any idea's?

Answer
If the a/c is on and is belowing cold air than it should help.  Dogs, especially huskies with thick coats do get hot in the summer, but again that same coat keeps them cool during warm seasons.  Just give her extra water when she pants.  Tile floors also help dogs cool down.  There isn't much you can do to.  You can trim the hair a little, but don't shave it complete.  Just make sure she stays indoors on hot days and give her plenty of water.  If you have any other questions, please ask.

Thank You,
Laura
