Nervous Peeing

Question
Hi Faye,
My friend and I have a Siberian Husky named The Colonel.  He is just about 6 months old.  He has a problem peeing.  It's not that he isn't house trained, but that he gets very nervous when meeting new people.  Whenever he sees a new person, someone he hasn't seen in a while, or someone he doesn't often, but he sees repeatedly he pees.  It seems that there is nothing we can do.  Even when we take him outside to go to the bathroom and he meets someone right after he still pees.  It's like he saved up some for the occasion.  What can we do to stop this nervous peeing?

Answer
Hi Tim,
Some dogs are just nervous types and will exhibit the behaviour you describe its thier nature and hard to cure. The best you can do is try to do things that give him confidence, and avoid being inside when new people are present. He is still young yet and he may also grow out of it as he ages. Expose him to new situations frequently and challenges, just keeping him in a secure back yard with things he is familiar with will not help his cause. Get him out to the park and take him to meet strangers. Hopefully he will get better as he ages.
Good luck.
Faye and Husky Crew.
