Question
hi i have a 11 month husky and he is so adorable i just love him and just recently i have had the problem of him jumping over th fence and digging under i, besides the hot wire what else would work?  And his fence is small yet but when we move to the country how big should the minimum of his fence be? Would it help to get another dog to be witrh him cuz hes lonely or what, i dont like chaining him up while we are in town.

Answer
Hot wire at the base should prevent digging out.  Other options include:

1) Trenching cement
2) Trenching the fence
3) Burying Chicken Wire angle out

For jumping over - height is key.  6' wooden privacy is best, nothing the dog can climb on to.  Some people have built extensions on the fence to angle back in and elevate it, and I've seen rollers installed at the top to prevent the dog from getting a grip.  (PVC tube around a suspended wire taht will spin if the dog tries to grab it)

Males are notorious for wandering and escaping, but females will too.  Exhaustion and companionship are most beneficial in preventing it.  So, another dog and wearing it out will help.
