Question
so, i trimmed my husky and i just now read that it is not a good thing to do, will his coat grow back? have i just done something really bad? please let me know something -derek-

Answer
Definitely not recommended, but the important thing will be to keep him in cool environments and not push physical activity in the heat at all.  That should help quite a bit.

As for growing back . . . well . . . tough to say.  Often, if the dog is younger, it will grow back over time (might take a year+ to grow back to natural lengths), and if the dog is older it might not ever grow back to full lengths.  In any case, often the coat comes back in a different texture, but ultimately, while not recommended, if the dog is not living in harsher climates, it is mostly cosmetic differences when the coat finally does grow back.  If the dog is expected to live in cold winter conditions, the density may be an issue and not allow the dog to stay as warm in the winter.  Again, the solution to this would be to allow adequate climate controlled shelter.

Hope that helps some.  Also, it sounds like you just trimmed the dog as opposed to shaving, and that usually is a better thing (the coat grows back better in many of these cases).
