Question
How can you train a husky to walk beside you with out a leash so the need to pull wont be in effect. if nothing is striving him to run forward then he should follow, right?

Answer
No. A husky needs a leash it is there life, taking it off is like giving it permission to run in the road. (I know of obedience champion Siberians who get killed in the road because they decided not to listen and  heel, and it was the first and only time they did that one jumped the out door ring during a obedience competition) Part of the breed trait is to run. Without a leash a husky will run away it is in there nature to move forward and move forward fast. This is what they where bred for, just like a retriever retrieves, and a heading dog heards with NO training. If the pulling is bothering you try a sensation harness (not a normal harness) or a gentle leader. Using a prong color or a choker PROPERLY can also help. They don't work if you don't know how to use them have a professional trainer show you how to use them and fit them.
