How much longer is she going to cry for?

Question
I just bought a Siberian Husky 3 days ago.  Absolutely gorgeous, love her to death.  I'm trying to crate train her... how much longer is she going to cry for?  I'll put her in her crate and as soon as she doesn't see me she  goes nuts!  How long does this usually take till she gets use to being alone/crate trained?  I give her plenty of exercise during the evening when I'm back from work/school.

Answer
It can vary quite a bit based on the individual dog.  The important thing is no matter how tempting, don't let her out until she is finished crying.  It's common for pups to have this problem though as they feel alone.  Sometimes a warmed blanket and a favorite toy can help.  Also, putting her in the crate and not leaving her (playing with her while in the crate) can be good to help her learn that the crate doesn't necessarily mean you leave.

What you need to be careful though is not to let her think that if she cries, she can get out.  Once they learn that, they will manipulate you with it and it's tough to overcome.  Keep the exercise up and that should help tire her out too.  One other thing, try covering the crate with a blanket to make it dark and more "den-like."  Keeping things dark and cozy can make it more appealing for the dog.
