Love for Rabbits!!

Question
My 1 year old Husky brought me a rabbit the other day. A few days before that she brought me a baby bird. I know this is normal behavior for a dog but is this dangerous? She is up to date on shots but a few days after the rabbit incident she attacked my sisters dog (whom she has played with before) I am just wondering if killing animals is going to make her agressive? I am afraid to leave her in the yard without supervision now too. It seems like that is her daily mission, to chase the squirrels and birds like an obsession, she doesnt even want to play catch anymore she is so worried about the animals in the trees and in the next yard. Should I be worried?

Answer
While dogs will often protect their "kills", I have seen no evidence that this in itself causes aggression.  It's a normal trait in Sibes, and many owners keep a "kill count" up to date similar to fighter pilots back in WWII.  In any case, keep the dog up to date on shots and you should be fine.  However, one thing that will help is that you should invest in some training with the dog that will help the dog focus beyond the prey drive that is inherent in the dogs.  While on lead, the dog should generally ignore other animals, or at least not try to chase them.  If your dog is not doing that now, start a training regimine to help get there.  This will help keep the dog under control in other situations as well.  Check around for local trainers and see if any can work with your Sibe.  Stay away from treats and look for a trainer that works with the dog, not with food.  If you can't find anyone, feel free to write back and I can offer some specific suggestions on how to train the dog to help get there.
