Question
I have a 6 month old Sibe. She is always so happy to see me and when I get home I take her to the back yard because she gets so worked up.She is very vocal and starts jumping on me and wrapping her legs around my legs.I tell her 'NO' 'Down' and she will just bark - jump up - run around-jump up on me - bark - run around. Is it that she just wants me to play with her or is she trying to tell me something? Please help me understand her better. She is a sweetheart and I absolutely love her.Any advice??

Answer
It sound like she is just really exited. This is how a pup of a wolf pack usually greets their mother who has just brought home food from a hunt. Usually they jump up, lick their face, and try to get her to puke up the food she is carrying in her belly. Do you feed her shortly after you get home? If you do you should think about changing the feeding time to when you are leaving in the morning and WAYYYYY later after you get home at the end of the day, like after you eat supper (if you feed her 2 times a day, at this age one feeding is enough). This should stop some of the jumping behavour but not all of it. Another thing you can do is compleatly ignore her till she calms down. This is walk in, if she jumps on you just turn your body so she falls off, NEVER use you hands to push her off this encourages the behavior, just keep walking like she isn;t there and don't say a thing to her untill she stands there and looks confused. Then give her 1 pat. This will probably make her go spastic again so ignore her again. Continue this, she will evantually get the point you want her still. It will be a while but she will get it Huskies are very smart!
