Am I crateing a little too long?

Question
Hi I have a 5 month old female siberian husky that I've had since she was 8 weeks old. She's the coolest and smartest dog I could ever ask for but lately I've been feeling a little guilty with crateing. I work 10.5hrs a day so the scedual she's in her crate is from 6am-11:15am then she's out playing and walked and put back in from 12:30pm-4:30pm and is out for the rest of the night until she gets sleepy around 9 or 10pm then she walks right into the crate and dont hear a peep from her all night and I wake her up at 5am and shes up until I go to work. For the last 2 months if I wanted to head out with a few friends at night I'd leave her in my finished basement with the gate up preventing her from going up the stairs while I was gone. I would usually be gone an hour.. Two at the most..and she would be perfectly fine. But in the past week she stared eating the lamp cords that I had wrapped around the lamp (I thought ahead) and assume now she's going through adolescence. Am I a bad owner if I put her in the cage for an hour or two after my work hours if I have to go to the gym or possibly go out? If I have to sacrifice everything so she's not in the cage so long then I'd gladly do it.. I feel guilty if she's in the crate the whole time but at the same time i myself would like to get out of the house. She's my new best friend but I'm afraid I'll be a bad owner if I leave. Please tell me what you think..

Answer
If she seems happy I wouldn't worry. One thing you can get so she isn't in a crate to aften is an Ex-pen.

If you get a few of these she can stay in this and have a little more freedom then a kennel. I you use this however you will have to put a potty pad in it or something so she goes in a proper area (this will happen because she is walking around more) Also you can make sure you do not have a lamp or anything in the play area that she can chew on. Sounds to me like you really love her, your puppy has a great home!
