Question
hi, i have an untrained 15 month old male husky, he is very aggresive when playing and keep pulling when i take a walk with him. my girlfriend wants to adopt a golden retriever or a german shepherd, can they get along? and i've heard husky tent to follow other dogs behavior, is he going to learn from the new dog if that dog is trained ? thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi James,

It sounds like you have your hands full.  You might want to consider signing up for a dog training class.  This will help you learn to leash control him a little better.  Huskies love to pull when walking them.  Adopting another dog isn't a bad idea.  Huskies love to be an a household with other dogs.  They get along with other breeds of dogs, but small breeds can be questionable.  I personally love golden retrievers, but German shepherds are great dogs also.  And both breeds and including the husky will do just fine with children if you decide to have them someday.

As far as the huskies following other dogs behavior.  It depends on the husky.  I have seen huskies follow behaviors of other dogs.  I know my husky when he was a puppy took on my parents golden retrievers behavior.  I even seen a person able to train their huskies to walk off the leash using another dog that was a different breed.  But again sometimes husky won't follow other dogs behavior, since they a dominant breed and like to behavior their "normal" way.  It is going to take some training, but it isn't impossible.  You just need to let your husky know you are the dominant one of the "pack" and he needs to follow your commands.  It does get better over time.

I wish you the best of luck.  If you have anymore questions, please ask.

Thanks,
Laura
