WHAT TO FEED ALASKAN MALUMUTES

Question
WHAT DO I FEED ALASKAN MALUTES I JUST GOT TWO GIVIN TO ME AND DONT KNOW MUCH ON THIS BREED OF DOG

Answer
Well, Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Huskies are different breeds, but they do share some similarities.  My general suggestion for what to feed Siberians is a high quality premium kibble with the following things:

1) Protein content ~30%
2) Fat content ~20%
3) Primary ingredients - meat based
4) Avoid foods with grains as a main ingredient (1 grain in the 2nd to 6th ingredients isn't too much of a problem)

Malamutes might not require quite the protein/fat blend, but still, they are a working arctic breed and I would imagine they have some similarities.

As for what food to feed - I never recommend anything because I'm not sure what is available in your area.  But go to the pet store (usually better selection and better quality food than your grocery store), and check out labels.  Use the above as a guide, feel free to talk to people and then go from there.  It's a combination of what is available, what fits the above criteria and what is affordable.  (There is one food I've seen here that is 2-3x as much as the food I feed.  The difference?  It has 2% more protein, and the grain is the fourth or fifth ingredient on the list instead of the third.  Better food?  Probably.  Worth spending three times as much?  I don't think so.)

Hope that helps some, but let me know if you have some other questions.
