Question
QUESTION: So i have been looking into getting a husky for our home. I have a dog back home that lives with my mother so i have a general idea of how to take care of a dog. But here im our new home We are looking for a small house dog. I know of the Klee Kai but breeders ask too much $$$ for puppies, which brings me to my question:
we found a lady with a litter of 9 puppies the father was maybe 25-27 inches in hight and the mother 20-23 i would have to say. from all the puppies there was one that stood out as the smallest one, maybe a 1/4 smaller then the other 9 week old puppies. Im wondering if this one puppy that looked liuke the runt in the litter will get to be smaller then 20" when grown as a male husky?
I have read up alot on these dogs, but lots of sites only state the norm breeding standards - so i was hoping someone could give me the info im looking for, i would hate to have to give it up because it would grow to be a huge dog.
ALL Coments are welcomed- im jus looking for some input from others-
Thank you,

ANSWER: Are we talking about height at the Withers or height at the head. If that is at the withers (that is where they normally measure) those are big Huskies. My girls measure usually about 18-20 inches at the withers. My boys 20-22.5 is my tallest breeding boy. I breed for small Huskies. One of my adult puppies is 25lbs as a adult.
Klee Kai's hardly have any husky in them (Mostly Eskimo dogs)...They also have various health issues, among other things. I know some lines that have illnesses that only happen to Beagles.
Runts usually are the largest when they are an adult. I do not know how the pups are feed (if this little one is missing out on some food because of pushy litter mates.) So I cannot say. I raise mine indoors and know when and make sure all he little ones eat till they are full (I sit an supervise the feedings). Does this breeder do this or are they raised in a kennel outdoor?
If you need anymore info please ask!

QUESTION: Thanks for your response foremost.
I dont think this Lady is a Great breeder at heart, she was all the puppies in the garage in a babys play pin with some news paper on the floor, while the parents were locked in the back yard away from the puppies. She feeds them in the Manner of one big bowl of dog food(dry kibble), and places in the pin so that they could all eat at one time (she did this when we were leaving) so all the dogs kinda jus go at it~ first come first serve, its becase of this i think the little one in the litter has a scrath on his noise..and i think its from the other puppies being ruff with him.

I spent a great deal reading up on others questions and your replys to them jus so i can inform myself more about the husky..since i did most research on the klee kai, but i came across the fact that they stop growth in 9 to 10 months of age, is that 24 human weeks? and with in this time if we limit how much they can eat maybe a cup a day of kibble and moderate snacks on the side would this help stop the groth? or are their other aspects that are involved with groth?
my previous dog was a scottich terr/toy poodle so it was a nice house size dog, and i always fed her and gae her snacks  she passed herself to how much she wanted to eat but i figured i would always made food available for her. I say this because i read that the husky does not need that much food?!? ...I want to make sure im not starving the dog by regulating how much it eats per day.
I really dont want to end up with a huge husky, its not that i mind it, only that in the house we live my father and mother would not want a huge dog, hence im looking for ways to keep it small. untill it stops growing past a certain age.
Please let me know any more info that you may have.
Thank you so much,

Answer
Sorry it took me a while to respond... Internet problems.
Okay, Moderating the dogs food will not stunt its growth. If a dog is genetically meant to be a certain size they will obtain it.
If the breeder you are looking at is any good at what she does she will know approximately what size this baby will be when it gets older. (Helpful hint: females usually smaller then males) I can usually guess with all correctness at what size my babies will get, but I weigh mine and make sure they all get all the food they want. Not just the pushy ones with the sweet shy one missing out.
I can say with all honesty that a husky if given the proper attention, stimulation and exercise can be the greatest house dog you can have. Just be sure you get one with a calm level headed demeanor. They sleep most of the time indoors again if given all the proper exercise ect. They are like the cats of the dog world.
