Skinny Husky

Question
I just wrote about my Naughty Husky.  I forgot to add that he is very thin.  He is about 60ish pounds @ 2 years old.  He eats very little, unless it is stealing people food.  The vet says he is a little lean, yet healthy.  If you feel him, you can feel ribs and spine.  He looks okay, but Im trying to help him gain.  Wet food is gettting expensive, and he already gets Science Diet!  HELP!

Answer
First, change him off the science diet. It is a very bad food (ranked on the worst dog food list in the Whole Dog Journal). Try Canadae, Timberwolf Organics, Gold Medal or Chicken Soup For The Dog Lovers Soul. Sounds like you have a large husky. You can also go to the store and add beef Tripe to the food (cook it first) and pour it over the food. He doesn't eat more because he is saving the room in his stomach to ransack you kitchen. Just because he knows he can. But also Huskies being under weigh at 2 years old isn't bad, they mature slowly and do not hit their proper weight until 4 years old or 5. If you get him to  a so called proper weight this young you will have problems with him being overweigh later. He isn't starving so don't worry. -Michelle B
