Question
Hi, i really want a husky but my mom thinks that it would be too much trouble. the main problem i think, is the hair.its to long. she thinks that it would get all over the place. Is there such thing as a short-haired husky? if not is there an relativly easy way to fix the hair problem? also how long can a husky stand being alone? would it be too lonly if i left it alone for 6hrs? we have a yard so it can play. thx in adv.

Answer
Most husky hair isn't really long, it is the amount of hair that they have. But is you want a short haired husky you will want to look for racing lines.  The only trick I know is brush daily and take to a professional groomer monthly or bi-monthly.

They are usually quite a hand full because they weren't intended to be pets. They were meant to pull and run so they have an abundant amount of energy. Whey huskies get bored they can be quite destructive. Eating clothes, household items and furniture. That is why crated when you are gone is highly recommended.
It has to be a crate they cannot get out of. I have one boy who was a master at getting out. If he couldn't figure out how to open the door, he would completely dismantle the kennel. He is a large husky, I always suggest going for a smaller husky, they don't have quite as much power to destroy lol. Also looking for a layed back husky is recommended. Don't fall in love with a color, or eye color it is who the dog is that matter more then what they look like.
On the upper hand they are very friendly to people. there is no guard dog instinct in them at all. Playful and friendly, I love hits breed because of the spontaneous attitude. You also have to outsmart the dog. It is exactly like having a small child. The same on that can open kennels can open doors, cabinets and the fridge. So I always need to be one step ahead of him.
Siberian also run. It is strongly ingrained into the dog. A fenced yard is a must. They cannot be bordered trained. They can pretend to be border trained, and fool their master for years and just decide to walk into the road one day and get killed. Happened to my first husky, and I was outside with her I saw it happen in front of me when she got hit I was directly in front of her and could of touched her. Happened to a few people I know as well they where within site of their dogs as well. Here is a link for knowing Siberians.
