husky lunging on leash

Question
I have two sibes, a 2 year old female and a male who just turned 1.  Both are fixed.  Over the last few months our male has developed a habit of lunging on leash as he's being walked.  Before this he was a pleasant walk and only needed some redirection when he started pulling.  In fact it was only this late spring that we had to get a no pull harness.  The pulling my husband and I can deal with.  The lunging on the other had is another matter.  He goes after everything.  The grass, shadows, animals, figments of the imagination.  He becomes so focused that that that it's impossible to regain his attention.  My husband walks both dogs now because I'm nine months pregnant and my balance is off .  Is this a phase that he'll grow out of
What can we do to work on this behavioral issue?  My husband is ready to try a prong or choke collar on the dog, and over the last few weeks he gone from enjoying walking the dogs to loathing it. oh, the male is over 50 lbs and has a strong prey drive.

Answer
No pull harnesses, especially for a husky, are usually worthless.  Definitely go with a prong collar and work the dog correctly on it.  If you don't know how to use the pop and release method of correction for loose-lead walking, let me know and I can point you in the right direction there.  However, with the lunging and pulling, definitely get the prong collar and a fixed, 6' lead.  Don't use the flexible leads, and you probably don't want or need anything longer than 6'.  Proper training and within a week you should see results with the right equipment.
