Question
Our 8 month old Husky get's diarrhea when we give her dog food. The vet gave us special dog food which stops the problem but are there other kind of dog food you can recommend, or food that might help?

Answer
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I didn't get the email from the site telling me I had this one sitting here.  Hopefully the diarrhea is better.  I would try slowly reintroducing whatever kibble you were feeding.  See if maybe it was just something else besides the food (stomach flu or something temporary).  Generally, I recommend foods that are high in protein and fat for Sibes, and primarily meat based.  I don't recommend any brands, as dog foods can be very regional.  However, some things that might help:

1) Look for dog food with protein around 30%
2) Fat around 20%
3) Avoid grain as the primary ingredient (should be a meat of some sort - fish, poultry, lamb, meat, etc.)
4) You may want to try an organic dog food
5) I've also heard people having success using a Bones and Raw Food diet (BARF) on some dogs that have sensitive digestive systems.

Hope that helps some.
