husky fur

Question
I realize husky fur goes everywhere.  Is there any way to control it.  how often do they shed.  IT is summer here in SC, about 91 degrees, and her fur is flying everywhere.  Thank you for any help you can provide

Answer
They shed year round, but blow coat generally twice a year (summer to winter coat, and then winter to summer coat - so they blow coat usually in the fall and spring).  Best advice:

1) Warm bath will help accelerate getting the fur out.  Water that is almost hot, and then a long day grooming will eliminate a lot of the fur.

2) Brushes like the Furminator, while expensive, really help.

3) Diet high in fat and protein will help develop healthy fur, and healthy fur is easier to deal with.

4) Dyson Animal vacuum is wonderful . . . :p  DC14

Unfortunately, this is just one of the great things about Siberian ownership.  Oh, and dogs that are indoor, or indoor/outdoor, are sheltered from the pure climate change, and often have prolonged coat blows, so keep that in mind.  Not a reason to keep the dog outside all year, but you will have a longer time to deal with it.  The bath really does help though.
