Question
Hello, I have a question about indroducing dogs . I have a female great dane that is about 3 years old and fixed. she is our baby, we are adopting a  male great dane , who is not ,I met him today in the park with my female, they got along great.the male kept marking , he pissed on my leg as well, my #1 question is , once he is fixed will he stop marking,? and #2 how can we bond with this dog? he has lived with a family with 3 children, they couldnt handle him  he was two big, and just to much for them, They have 2 chiuaua's as well.I fell in love with him as soon as I looked at him, will he be able to bond with our family  if you think so, how long  would you say? If not what should I do? thank you for any help Debbbie

Answer
The marking thing is not a good thing when he does it on you, that's often a way of establishing dominance for dogs. I would suggest taking dog obedience classes with the new one, it will help establish you as a leader and it is also a great way for owners and hteir dogs to bond with one another. One or all of you can take him to the class and you can all practice with him in between classes which gives the entire family a chance to bond with the new addition.
