Answer
  Into adulthood

As your puppy gets older its food requirements will decrease because the rate of growth decreases.  You will be able to tell when it is getting too much food, it will either look fat or will refuse one of its meals.  When this happens cut out the milk feed.  Do not try to tempt it by giving treats, and do not let it get too fat, it is bad for its health.

Bitches will typically need only half to a quarter of the
amount of food for a male.  Use common sense and observation
to determine what is best for your animal.

8 am   Males - gradually increase amounts to 24 oz meat             plus 12 oz Dried food.
Females - gradually decrease amounts to 8 oz meat          plus 3 oz Dried food.

  5 pm   As above.

Note that we have discontinued the milk meal.

At around one year change the Dried food from Puppy to Wafcol 20 for.

Section 1 - Diet (cont)

Complete meal

We use and recommend Wafcol Complete 20, Wafcol Greyhound and Wafcol Complete 20.

Always wet the dried food first, either with a meat stock or with water or with gravy made from a small amount of tinned food.

Your puppy has been raised on TPMS Worker Complete and changing could cause an upset tummy so take care when changing.  The way to do this is to replace a quarter of the current food with the new one.  After three days make the feed half-and-half.  Then three days later make it three-quarters new, feeding entirely newt about three days after this.

If TPMS is not obtainable in your area a satisfactory equivalent is as stated above.  TPMS is based in Redditch and delivers around the Midlands, West Country and South Wales, telephone 01527 510870 or www.TPMS.co.uk, email sales@tpms.co.uk

Tripe

Use only raw, undressed ox tripe, which is brown or black in colour, usually chopped or coarsely minced.  Some people are put off by the smell but it is the best you can give your dog and the lowest cost (a rare combination).  It is sold frozen in 1 lb and 2 lb packs which can be defrosted in the garage, tipped into the feeding bowl, mixed with the complete food and served.  Always make sure it is completely de-frosted, in winter this may mean standing the tripe in warm water.

We can usually provide the names of suppliers in your area if you have difficulties in obtaining any of the above.

Never give small bones or cooked ones.  If you must give bones make sure they are raw beef marrow bones.

Never leave food down for your dane for more than 15 minutes.

Never feed cooked and raw meat together, feed one or the other, preferably raw.

Do make sure the food you offer is fresh and not stale or sour.
