great dane walkies

Question
Preparing my 10 month old great dane for a walk is a nightmare. She wont keep still so that I can put her collars on. Even though I've managed to get her to sit down she resists, head bangs, tries nibbling me, wacks me with her paws. I try to keep as calm as possible but finally have to wrestle with her. Once the choker and head collar are on and lead she leaps around like a maniac, pulling back or again lashing out with her paws getting caught up in the lead, rolling about on the floor... get the idea! I win in the end but have to walk her about the garden showing her who's boss before I can actually get out onto the street. Please any tips on dominating this head strong bitch!

Answer
Firstly, keep a collar on her all the time.  This will make it easier for you to control her.

Second, take her to training classes, preferably KC Good Citizens Dog classes/.  The KC will tell you where your nearest ones are being run.

Thirdly, this is a young bitch thing and probably wouldn't do it to a man.  She is probably coming into puberty and wants to assert her dominance over her 'mother/pack leader, like teenage girls.  In the wild the alpha bitch would have put her in her place weeks ago.  They don't stand any messing about.  If you don't get on top of her now she will run your life for you.
