QuestionHello-
I have a blue great dane, just over 3 years old. His nose has developed brown/tan spots on it, that if left untreated (the vet told me to put vit. e on it) will eventually crust and then come off, but is pussy underneath..The vet diagnosed as a vitamin deficiency but he is on Omega 3, Vit. E and others...He is also licking his front paws every morning now as well.. ANY IDEAS on the causes or how to help? THANKS SO MUCH
AnswerYou could be over-vitaminising him. Try reducing the protein by giving him raw, minced tripe and terrier meal/biscuit. He's an adult now so a lower protein diet should suit him.
On the other hand he could be knocking it digging and burying his toys or trying to get through a fence or similar.
Have a look at his paws and see if you can see anything like acne or infections from grass seeds.
Hope that helps
