great dane diet

Question
I got my first great dane puppy a couple of days ago from the breeder...she is a bit scrawny but was told that is because she came from such a big litter (15).  I am confused by all of the different advice on feeding dane puppies.  Does she still need to be on puppy food since she is smaller?  And she is having trouble with diarrhea, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Answer
Great Dane puppies do not need to eat puppy food at all. What I will suggest is that you put her on a grain free, high quality food. I would suggest that you go with Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. This food is made for dogs that may have problems with digestion, it also is a food that has a lower protein content but has GREAT nutrients because it does not contain fillers which are corn and corn starches. You can find a local retailer that sells the food near you. It is a bit more pricey, but that is what you have to sacrifice when getting a breed like a Great Dane, because feeding them a bad food alone can cause HUGE health problems such as HOD and Wobblers. Unless you can find a puppy food that has a protein content of less then 25% and a food that has meat or fish as the main (1st) ingredient, and no by-products and NO corn, I would suggest using the food that I have provided you here. I am also including the website where you can find the closest feed or specialty store that sells this food. I hope that this helps and if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to write us again!!! Let us know how it goes...
