Great Dane Puppy and Boxers

Question
I have a 2 year old boxer and am considering purchasing a Great Dane puppy.  Do you envisage any problems with the two breeds getting along together, and do you think that a boxer would be too boisterous for a great dane puppy?

Answer
There should never be a problem with dogs together, regardless of what the breed is. Please do take the time to do your research and get your puppy from a reputable breeder, this breed has MANY health problems and require more care then a Boxer. As long as your dog is well socialized and you cannot foresee any other problems, you have nothing to worry about. You have to monitor their play times and I would not recommend letting them out unattended together. Great Dane puppies have brittle boning, they can break and fracture their bones easily, so really rough play should be kept to a minimum when they are younger up to about 9-10 months of age. They also should not be excessively exercised, no jogging, running or any type of agility training until after 20 months. They need a high quality, low protein food, under 25% preferred, no by-products, no corn or corn starches...As long as you use the tools available to do the research and use a reputable breeder, you will have a GREAT Great Dane experience, and as always, if you need any other advice, this is the place to come!

Good luck in your search for a new puppy!
