Chicken bone

Question
My 2 year old Great Dane got a hole of a chicken bone and swallowed it whole. What can/do I do? Will he be ok? Please help me.

Answer
Brooke,

If the chicken bone was raw then all you will have to worry about is diarrhea, especially if your Dane is not used to table food.

If the bone was already cooked you do have to worry about the bone splintering inside. This can cause the bone to puncture the stomach and the intestines. If you notice any discomfort in your dog over the next day or so you will need to take him to the vet immediately.

Hope this answers your question.
