Great Dane with funny ribs

Question

Pup sleeping
Hi I recently was forced upon a great Dane puppy that a friend basically dropped on me. The puppy was bit by a dog when it was with its littermates (from what they told me) and was going to be put to sleep. There were 18 in the litter. Any way, she is growing quickly and seems to be healthy. Her ribs though are what is puzzling me, her right rib is normal and comes down from her back to her chest in a bow like normal, but her left side it comes down from her back normal, and then when it gets to the middle of her body down to her chest it is totally flat??? Is this normal for the breed or is it because maybe someone held her too much when she was very young. Also she is  from my research 8 weeks old on Thursday and she still doesn't have her middle top teeth, she has the front and back but her top canine teeth and the others next to it are not there. her bottom are normal though. If you have any information or know of someone who can tell me  more about this please let me know. Also on her left side when she breathes, one piece of her bottom part of her rib goes up and down. She supposedly went to the vet (thats where my friend found her) and they took x rays of her nose and said that there was no permanent damage, but she still breathes funny out of it and has to open her mouth to take in a full breath.

Answer
I would suggest that you take her to the veterinarian to get her rib checked out, it may be cracked or broken, but I cannot really tell from the picture that you attached. If she is missing teeth(oligodontia), they may either never grow in or they somehow managed to get knocked out in rough play with her litter mates.

It sounds like she has a list of problems, which is probably the reason they were going to have her euthanized. I would suggest to attempt to get the records from the veterinarian she had been seen at and take her somewhere else to have them re-evaluate her...

It is not normal in the breed to have flat ribs, there maybe something else going on there...

I apologize for taking so long to answer, I usually do within a day but having a newborn doesn't allow me the time to sit down at the computer these days...
