Our Great Dane - Rocky

Question
We've just adobted a 1 yr old male fawn. He seems to be happy and energetic, but we think he's not eating enough. We are slowly seeing more of his ribs/hips. We walk every morning just under a mile and play in the afternoon. Is that too much? What is the best diet for great danes? And I can't seem to find a dog bowl high enough for him. The charts say it should be 28" tall, but I can't find a store that has them, do you know of any.

Answer
I live in the UK and it sounds as though you live in the US.  We get feeding stools at shows that are the correct height.

Try putting his bowl in a bucket for now.

You can make a feeding stand yourself.  Just make a three legged stool with a hollow top.  Your local tinber yard will tell you what wood it will need and probably recommend a carpenter to do the work for you if you can't do it yourself.

and i will send a diet sheet we give to new puppy owners which you can adapt.
