Question
My Great Dane puppy is coming up on 12 months, I was wondering at what age do I change him from puppy formula to adult formula?

Answer
Great Danes should not be fed puppy food ever...unless the brand has a low protein. Puppy food has too much protein in it and it can cause bad bone growth. I would recommend switching him off the puppy food as soon as possible. Some of the brands that I would go with are Innova, California Natural, Nutro Natural Choice, Ultra, Solid Gold or my favorite Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream...You need a food that has a meat as the main ingredient, no by product and no more then 24 Protein Content.

Because you have decided to add a Great Dane into your home you will find that these brands are more expensive then your generic Pedigree, Purina, Ol'Roy ect...but you have to feed these breeds of dogs a higher quality food in order to avoid medical problems like HOD, Wobblers and Bone Deformities in the future.

I hope this answers your questions and let us know what you decide!
