Question
we have a litter of 15 great dane x irish wolf hounds who are now 4 weeks they have mainly been hand raised on sma but now the mother is showing no interest in feeding them should we continue with sma or start to wean them

Answer
Yoy should have been weaning them from 2 1/2 weeks on.  How would you like 30 sets of sharp claws scratching away at your tender chest.  She has also probably dried up.

Get them on to calf or lamb milk replcer, from your local farm shop/agricultural merchant.  Mix it up thick and give it them three times a day once with Weetabix, once with eggs and once plain.  In between feed minced beef brisket of breast of lamb, your butcher will bone them out and mince them for you.  Start with little walnut sized balls.  After a few days mix it with some well soaked complete food such as greyhound or worker complete.after a week they will be feding themselvbes.  Give each one a separate bowl to ensure they all get equal amounts.

I recommend Hilary Harmers book on Dogs and how to breed them.
