Question
hi i bought my son a great dane puppy for christmas.she is a beautiful mantle.she was diagnosed by the vet as having a growing disease that was supposed to have kept her leg from growing.i was supposed to keep her in a confined pen.but after months of keeping her put up i decided to let her free.she can now walk on this leg and is doing great.the more excercise she egts the better she can move.we were told abby would have to be put down. but now shes doing fine should i let her go on and see what happens or take her back to the vet for another opinion?

Answer
Vets are very bad when it comes to danes.  The large nuckles are often diagnosed as rickets.  Let you baby run free.  If it is lethal at least she will have died happy not caged.  I suspect she will grow up like a normal dane.

Where do you live?  You should visit a show where there will be hundreds of dane people to talk to and get sensible help.

This Saturday we will be at Builth Wells in central Wales.  April 29 we will be at Malvern for another big show.  If you are interested I can let you know where the shows are going to be.

I used to have a girl called Abbi.
