Great Danes Feet

Question
My Dane Rumor has dry cracked split front pads.  Vet says that it is a lifelong condition and moisturise them.  We are doing twice daily but not much progress.  Any more ideas?  we are filing off the rough lumpy bits but they grow back so quickly.  she now can't walk on pavement and her (and my male Danes') exercise is seriously suffering.
Any advise gratefully received!

Keep doing the moisturizing treatments like the vet suggested. Also go out to a petstore like petco or petsmart,someplace that carries a large variety of dog supplies and get them some booties to use for when they are taken outside for walks on pavement.That might help with the discomfort and will probably help with the healingprocess.
